Thought Technology ProComp

What to do when a Thought Technology ProComp amplifier does not connect or shows no signal.

My ProComp device does not connect to BrainAssistant

BrainAssistant ships the Thought Technology drivers and checks the driver setup each time the Thought Technology device connection is selected; a missing or outdated setup is repaired automatically. If your Thought Technology ProComp device still does not connect to BrainAssistant, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you are on the most recent version of Windows and have installed all available Windows and BrainAssistant updates.
  2. Connect the amplifier to your PC and make sure you have selected the Thought Technology device connection.
  3. Click the connection icon at the top right and then Install Thought Technology drivers. The same button is in the Settings, section Setup.
  4. Approve the Windows prompt for administrator rights. BrainAssistant then installs the drivers and connects to the amplifier without a restart.

If your PC is managed by an IT department or a third-party service provider, you may not have admin access to it. In that case, forward this page to them instead.

If you still have connection issues, follow the advanced steps below or contact us at support@brainboost.de.

Advanced steps

  1. Install the drivers from the USB stick shipped with your amplifier: plug it into your PC, open the folder SA7900DE Biograph Infinity 6.9, run the installer SA79000DE_BGI69.exe and follow the install dialog.

Depending on your country, the prefix of the folder and file names may vary slightly (e.g. “SA7900IT” if you purchased the Italian version).

  2. Re-install the Microsoft C++ Redistributable, an official Microsoft package that several BrainAssistant features need. In the BrainAssistant settings, click Download C++ Redist. A browser window opens and downloads the latest version directly from Microsoft. Run it, follow the install dialog and restart your PC afterwards.

  3. Register the Thought Technology drivers manually:

    1. Open your BrainAssistant installation folder (default: C:\Program Files\BrainAssistant) and navigate to Dlls\TTLAPI\TTLAPI_Dlls. Check that this folder contains at least these files:

      • TTLDCRPTCtrl.dll
      • TTLInfinitiMyotracLiveCtrl.dll
      • TTLLiveCtrl.dll
    2. Press the Windows key, search for “cmd” and run the Command Prompt as Administrator.

    3. For each of the files above, copy its path (right-click the file > Copy as path) and enter regsvr32 followed by that path. Confirm each command with Enter. For example:

      regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\BrainAssistant\Dlls\TTLAPI\TTLAPI_Dlls\TTLLiveCtrl.dll"
    4. If you get an error about a missing service called DllRegisterServer, make sure you started the Command Prompt with administrator rights.

    5. Otherwise you get a message confirming that DllRegisterServer was executed correctly.

My ProComp device is connected, but I can’t see a signal

If your device is connected (the icon shows a green connected plug), there may be an issue with the data it sends. Check the following:

  1. Are you starting a training session or a recording? Make sure the mapping you use is set up correctly.
  2. Did you plug in your electrodes and submodules starting from slot A? BrainAssistant recognises ProComp channels starting with slot A, so the signal of an electrode in slot C may not be visible with a single-channel protocol.
